Ohkay Owingeh then used the construction documents to solicit funding for the project. In 2022, the Pueblo received the funding they were looking for and the project is not off the shelf and back on the boards. After six years of little movement, this project once again has legs. This Multi-Purpose building is a one-story 8,758sf Health and Wellness Building including a 5,800sf full size gymnasium with integral volleyball court, and spectator seating. Also included in the project are Concessions located off a large waiting area as well as a meeting room for community functions. This project was designed as a campus extension to the Ohkay Owingeh Community School, also designed by our office and completed in 2015. The Health and Wellness project eloquently incorporates a storm water collection system which captures rainwater from the roof and funnels it into a large cistern for reuse.
